I have found that counselling helps a person to find effective ways of managing their lives, enabling them to find appropriate tools to manage those worries and anxieties. By providing a space to reflect, it helps through identifying patterns of behaviour, finding ways for us to cope with day-to-day life and decision making.
As your counsellor, I am guided by your needs, sometimes bringing an awareness of past issues whilst remaining focused on the here and now. This is done in a supportive, encouraging and collaborative environment, as you travel this particular part of your life's journey.
My approaches are mainly integrative, incorporating humanistic and psychodynamic, recently using body work with yoga and creative elements within my practice.
I am continually growing as a therapist working with trauma and somatic experiences towards bringing a more holistic experience for my clients.
I am the founder of "One Soul Yoga", in offering yoga classes, private 1-2-1 and group workshops in Southsea, Portsmouth.
My years of experience as a Counsellor include working with a diverse range of clients in the following settings, NHS, MIND, Rape & Sexual Abuse counsellor, Bereavement Counsellor

I feel that Andrea has the perfect balance of professionalism, compassion, humour and assertiveness which really helped when applying certain techniques and challenging core beliefs. Keep doing great work!
This has gone way beyond what I had experienced in the past, both in terms of the issues tackled, and the impact it has had on me. Andrea's personable approach, great ability to listen, understand and adapt, has also made a great difference.
I found my Therapist was excellent, winning my confidence from day one and helped me to understand what I need to do to keep living. Thank you Andrea
I found Andrea very understanding and non-judgemental. Andrea very quickly found an effective style of communication that I understood and could relate to.
Counselling helped me to see that there seemed to be a pattern underlying my feelings. Also, it helped me to begin to find 'my voice'. In addition I was given some strategies to try and help bring about changes in certain situations. Thank you Andrea for your help in enabling me to do this. I didn't find it easy to talk about myself and my 'problems', finding it emotional. I was shown empathy and patience, including my need to 'get through' my agenda for each session. I was very grateful to Andrea for this.
Much thanks Andrea for helping me feel comfortable in my own skin again.
Although I felt embarrassed about needing counselling and that my problems were insignificant in comparison to those of other people, I was given reassurance by Andrea that they were important because they affected me.
I came to counselling very confused and uncomfortable with myself. Andrea helped me to realise my thoughts and behaviours were symptomatic of my childhood and being a new parent. Many thanks Andrea.
Andrea seemed to grasp my issues very well and reflect things back to me that helped me understand myself better.
